Who we are

World Salary Calculator is built and maintained by Sofluent Technologies Inc., a software company incorporated in Canada.

What the site does

World Salary Calculator works out take-home pay after income tax and payroll deductions in 6 countries: Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore and United Kingdom. It is free to use, needs no sign-up, and runs entirely in your browser: the salary you type is never sent to us. The site is paid for by advertising and by voluntary "Buy us a Donut" contributions.

Where the numbers come from

Every rate, bracket, allowance and ceiling is taken from the tax authority or government body that sets it. Each calculator page lists all of its sources and the date they were last checked. The main source for each country:

How a result is produced

Each country's parameters live in a single data file. The calculator applies them in your browser, and the rate tables printed on each page are generated from the same file, so the page and the calculator cannot disagree. The calculations are tested against hand-worked examples. The steps each calculator follows are listed on its page under "How this is calculated".

Limits

Results are estimates for one employee whose only income is salary, using the standard allowances. Each page lists what it does not model, such as pension contributions, student loans or optional credits. Payroll withholding is calculated per pay period and can differ from these annual figures, and your final tax is settled in your tax return.

The calculators are not tax, legal or financial advice. While we check every rate against its official source, we cannot guarantee that every result is complete, accurate or current, and we accept no liability for decisions made on the basis of them. Links to external websites, such as tax authorities, are provided for reference; we are not responsible for their content.
